AGC(SPS) RECRUITING

TRANSFER BONUS (AND GOLDEN HELLO)

Recently launched, a Transfer Bonus of £4,000 will be paid to Voluntary Transferees who join AGC (SPS) as a Mil Pers Admin. The lump sum is taxable and subject to National Insurance Contributions. It will be paid on successful completion of Phase 2 AGC (SPS) training in return for a 48 month Return of Service.

The Transfer Bonus window will run for 2 years and will be paid to transferees who start AGC (SPS) Phase 2 training between 1 Jan 16 and  31 Dec 17. The course is currently 15 weeks long.

Voluntary Transfers into the AGC(SPS)

SPS Branch is actively seeking Voluntary Transfers of Cpls and below, but will look carefully at Sgts with the right skills.

All ranks should expect their initial appointment to be as a Sub Unit Personnel Administrator.  Engr Units employ Sgts as Sub Unit Personnel Administrators.

Criteria

Completed Phase 1 Training. Able to pass all MATTS.

Basic Skills Level 1 Literacy & Numeracy (Level 2 for Sgts).

For non English speaking soldiers - ESOL Lite pass for in listening & speaking.

Medical Fully Deployable (Medical Limited Deployable on case by case basis).

Military Character Assessment of EXEMPLARY. (Those with an assessment of VERY GOOD will be considered on a case by case basis).

No security or Assignment Restrictions ((Security Checked (SC)).

Process  

Interested soldiers should first speak to their Regimental Career Management Officer and then have an interview with their Regimental Administrative Officer. 

It is likely that prospective transferees may spend a short period of time on attachment to an SPS Detachment, either in their current unit or elsewhere. During this time a AF B241 should be completed and sent to the Army Personnel Centre, to the relevant desk for the losing cap badge. That desk will approve (or otherwise) the transfer and will liaise with the AGC(SPS) Career Managers.

On receipt of the AF B241 an interview form will be passed to the appropriate Bde HQ where the SO2 SPS will interview the soldier. The record of interview with the recommendation will be returned to the AGC(SPS) Career Manager.  SO1 AGC Sldrs will review AF B241 with the Interview recommendations and if all is positive, will approve the application and assign the soldier to the relevant training or new unit.

Rejoining the Army into the AGC(SPS)

If you left the Army (or other Service) then you can still rejoin into the AGC(SPS) if:

The Branch has a job for you

The reason you left does not prevent you from re-enlisting.

You still meet the entry requirements. A guide to the requirements is here.

You are within 6 years of leaving (over 6 years and you must re-do Phase 1 training).

The detailed rules are contained in 2014DIN01-214 which you can get from your local Army Careers Centre (ACC).

How to re-enlist

You can gain initial advice by speaking to the Army Personnel Centre on the following numbers:

To begin the formal process you should make initial contact with the National Recruiting Centre (NRC) via the online service or at an Army Careers Centre.  The NRC will advise the candidate if an AGC (SPS) vacancy exists on the Official Army Vacancies List (OAVL); if it does the NRC will liaise with the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow to process the application.

If there is not a suitable vacancy (perhaps due to rank) on the OAVL, the case will be reviewed by the appropriate authority. If the case is supported, the NRC will be able to continue to process the application.

Terms of Service

The Terms of Service under which you re-enlist (i.e. the length of contract offered to you) will depend upon previous service, length of time outside the Army and whether you are joining your previous trade.  Those terms will be made clear to you prior to re-employment. Your proposed Terms of Service may also be affected by any residual Regular Reserve liability; those with previous Regular Army service who left as a result of submitting a Notice to Terminate (NTT) will normally depart with some liability.

Rank

Whether you rejoin straight into your original rank and seniority will depend principally on the amount of time that has lapsed since you left; other factors may be what you have been doing since you left, your particular skill set and how long you spent in that rank.

Effect on Redundancy Compensation

You may be required to repay all or part of your Redundancy Compensation if you rejoin the Armed Forces. The rules are complex but in general, the longer you are out, the less you will have to repay. Further guidance is available from this Link.

Effect on Pension

Upon rejoining all entrants will become members of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme 2015.  Any pension you currently hold may be affected by rejoining and, as the rules are very complex, you are advised to contact Veterans UK for more details on their individual case before agreeing to an engagement offer.
